OVERVIEW
We partnered with United Airlines to pass legislation incentivizing SAF adoption, collaborating with key stakeholders and navigating the legislative process to secure support.
The Challenge
The aviation industry faced mounting pressure to adopt more sustainable practices, including the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). However, there were no significant legislative incentives to encourage airlines to purchase or use SAF, making widespread adoption economically unfeasible.
The Solution
We worked closely with United Airlines to pass legislation incentivizing the use and purchase of SAF. This effort involved collaborating with environmental organizations, business groups, and labor unions to craft a bill that addressed diverse stakeholder interests. The team also navigated the legislative process on behalf of United Airlines, engaging directly with staff from the House, Senate, Governor’s Office, and members in each chamber to secure support.
The Outcome
The SAF legislation was successfully enacted, providing airlines with critical incentives to integrate sustainable aviation fuels into their operations. This milestone positioned United Airlines as a leader in sustainability while aligning the aviation industry with global environmental goals.
